Every Year, February 21 is observed as the “International Mother Language Day” as declared by UNESCO in acknowledging the struggle of people of Bengal for their language. BSAC as an active nationalist student organisation do fully observes the same as the international language day following the declaration. We hold programs varying in terms of segments and do celebrate the day with literature, debate, poetry and study circles.
As the organisation has held programs previously, and this year 21st of February was also observed by BSAC. One of the programs was held at Shaal (Quetta) in which various segments were included like Debate, speeches, poetry, paper reading and documentary. Followed by another program by Turbat Zone at Turbat, Kech in which speeches, tableau, poetry, paper reading and documentary segments were performed.
Furthermore, BSAC Khuzdar Zone held debate entitled “International Mother Language” which was composed of two segments including Background of February 21, and significances of mother language and a paper reading, where Uzair Baloch Chairman of the organisation participated as the speaker, followed by another study circle at Naseerabad by the Naseerabad Zone where Central Committee members Jaffar Baloch and Ali Baloch participated as speakers.
Following the central decision of the organisation BSAC Kalat Zone held a study circle on the same topic, in addition, BSAC Taunsa Zone observed the day and conducted a debate. Same like, BSAC Kharan Zone observed a discussion on the topic Mother language and BSAC DG Khan Zone also held a study circle on the day of international mother language day.
BSAC Karachi Zone also observed the program and merged it into a “Welcome Party” for the newcomer students at Karachi where two papers on language were read and a debate was held where Central Information Secretary, Fahad Baloch, participated as a speaker in the debate.
Likewise, BSAC Panjgur Zone observed February 21st as “International Mother Language Day” in which they held a debate. Moreover, BSAC Tandojam Zone organised a program entitled “International Mother language Day” which included segments like speech, debate and poetry.
It is worthy noting that a program was all set to be observed at LUAWMS Uthal, however, the program on “International Mother Language Day.” The varsity denied permission for the program and the program was sabotaged. The organisers were threatened of suspension and admission cancellation for nothing but organising a debate on mother languages as declared by the UNESCO.
